Resolution of the UN General Assembly on Impact of rapid technological change on the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and targets
The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution titled “Impact of Rapid Technological Change on the Achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and Targets”, without a vote on August 17, 2021.
The adopted resolution urged Member States and other stakeholders to:
- adopt or maintain data protection legislation and policies in line with their international human rights obligations, to monitor data privacy practices, investigate violations and abuses, and to provide appropriate remedies.
- promote digital inclusion and close the gender digital divide while harnessing technology to mitigate the negative impacts of COVID-19.
- bridge the digital and knowledge divides, acknowledging technological accessibility for persons with disabilities as one of the core elements of SDGs.
