As countries all over the world observed the World Sickle Cell Day, Nigeria is not left out as organizations, individuals and groups have been creating awareness among Nigerians about the day ahead of the celebration.

Prominent among these groups is the Sickle Cell Hope Alive Foundation, (SCHAF), that has started a nationwide awareness programme to mark the 2021 World Sickle Cell Day. On 17 June 2021, SCHAF embarked on a "Rally and Interactive Education Talk" on Sickle Cell Disease in Ibadan (Nigeria), with the participation of Professor Adeyinka Falusi, 2001 L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Laureate for Africa and the Arab States.

About Sickle Cell Disease : Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) is the most frequent genetic disease worldwide and a major global public health issue.
