Launch of the "Progress of the world's women 2026 : gender equality in the age of climate crisis 2026" report
As world leaders gather in Antalya, Türkiye, for COP31, UN Women is launching its flagship report, "Progress of the World's Women 2026: Gender Equality in the Age of Climate Crisis."
The report examines how climate change deepens gender inequalities and calls for a green transition that is also fair and inclusive. It also highlights how women and girls, particularly those living in poverty, bear disproportionate consequences of a crisis largely driven by the world's wealthiest populations.
The report assesses governments' responses, highlights the leadership of women environmental defenders, Indigenous women and feminist movements, and outlines a roadmap for feminist climate justice based on fair responsibility, adequate climate finance and investment in care and equality.
As negotiations on just transitions take place at COP31, UN Women calls on world leaders to put women and girls at the centre of climate action, ensuring they have the rights, resources and decision-making power to shape solutions.
