Award ceremony of the UNESCO-Equatorial Guinea International Prize for Research in the Life Sciences & Fellowship Programme for Young Women Scientists in Africa

Science, particularly the life sciences, plays a vital role in addressing global challenges, from emerging diseases and biodiversity loss to food security and climate change. By supporting scientific research and innovation, we can develop sustainable solutions and build healthier, more resilient societies.

Established by UNESCO’s Executive Board and funded by the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, the Prize recognises up to three laureates each year for their outstanding contributions to research in the life sciences. With a total award of USD 300,000, it aims to advance scientific progress and support the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
