Summary
Christina Dalla is Associate Professor at the Department of Pharmacology, Medical School, University of Athens and Principal Investigator at the Neuropsychopharmacology Research Group. Dr. Dalla is President of the Mediterranean Neuroscience Society, past President of the Hellenic Society for Neurosciences, as well as treasurer of the Institute of Stress Medicine and Biology. She is also member of the board of directors of the newly-founded European Brain Foundation (funded by European Brain Council for research funding), section-editor at the European Journal of Neuroscience and member of the Educational and Scientific Committees of the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology. Dr. Dalla has extensive research experience in psychopharmacology, specifically on sex differences in animal models of stress/depression/cognition and on behavioral and neurochemical/neurobiological studies. She received her first diploma from the Pharmacy School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 2000 and in 2005 she earned her PhD in Pharmacology studying sex differences in models of depression. She has earned two Marie Curie fellowships for performing research in Behavioural Neuroendocrinology at the University of Liege in Belgium and for three years as a post-doctoral fellow at the Dep. of Psychology and Center of Neuroscience at Rutgers University of New Jersey. She returned in the Department of Pharmacology in the Medical School of Athens in 2009 as a faculty member. She has participated in many research grants (Marie Curie FP6, NIH grants, PENED, IKYDAD, post-doc GSRT, ELIDEK, Erasmus+). She has received numerous awards in scientific meetings, as well as the L’Oreal-Unesco award for young Greek women in science and the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology Fellowship award. Dr. Dalla serves at committees, such as the Gender Equality Committee of her University and at the National Medicines Association of Greece. Also, she is an active member of the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ECNP) Preclinical Data Network Forum and has served as an external expert evaluator at the European Union Research Ethics and Integrity Unit. Finally, as a member of the DANA-alliance for the brain, she is actively participating in public activities for brain awareness, such as publishing of books for the public, and in an Erasmus+ grant “Sharing Good Practices for Brain Education in Europe”.
